While visiting the nations premier sustainable event, otherwise known as The Green Festival at Jacob Javitz Center this past Spring I heard about many wonderful products, services and people.
Babo Botanicals is a great little company founded by a concerned mom who decided to do something for her children and their peers, Kate Solomon. “What goes on children’s bodies should be as natural as what goes into their mouths.”
“It’s never too early for healthy green habits. Parents are seeking natural and nutritive ingredients that will give their children’s hair and skin a fighting chance against today’s environmental damage and years of exposure to pollutants.”
Especially those of us who live in densely populated areas, like New York City, I find this sentiment is especially true.
Kate launched of Babo Botanicals, after the birth of her first child. She drew on her 10 years of experience in product development for beauty companies such as L’Oreal, Parfums Givenchy and Avon. “It seemed like most baby “grooming” products were long on chemical names and didn’t truly address our children’s particular hair and skin problems. I sought to develop a line of botanical products that offer parents the same level of choice they value in selecting products for themselves.”
Supporting sustainable, pesticide free agriculture continues to be her mission. For this reason, they selected an organic farm in upstate New York to produce the Babo Collection. (see Kate’s blog for more information)
Her professional Babo team consists of mothers -whose inspiration and dedication to launch this brand is so appreciated.See Kate’s blog page about the super moms who are part of the Babo Team. Read About her Super Mom Team on her blog.
There are a number of great products out, what I really loved at Kate’s is that she not only gets in front of her products, she’s leading a campaign to inform and inspire mom’s (and dad’s) to make sustainable choices in ALL areas of their children’s lives. She backs it up by purchasing local, sustainable and organic ingredients. “The Babo Botanicals collection is made entirely on a certified organic farm, which I personally selected as I began to work on the line. Located in beautiful upstate New York, the facility sources the highest quality botanicals from around the world, emphasizing fair trade while also dedicated to supporting local NY industries.”
I’m so glad that I found her, (we use the Oatmilk Calendula Shampoo and Bodywash for our two youngest & Cucumber Aloe for our oldest, along with their sunscreens). Their sunscreens are made with Non-Nano Zinc Oxide, the safest, most effective sunblock ingredient. She writes about why they are now considered the safest.
Most of their products come in travel size too, perfect for dropping in your bag on the way to the park. You can purchase their products on the website or through local and web-based retailers.
